Malware Alert!

Subject: Malware Alert!

Dear Customer,

Our robot has detected an abnormal activity from your IP adress on sending e-mails. Probably it is connected with the last epidemic of a worm which does not have official patches at the moment.

We recommend you to install this patch to remove worm files and stop email sending, otherwise your account will be blocked.

Support Team Robot

The worst thing is that despite the spelling errors, the source and the anonymity of the spammer, people actually do fall for this. “Hey! There are no patches! Install this patch!” Uh, yeah. You know, if people would just learn to read these things, spammers wouldn’t stand a chance. Then again, I’d be out of a job… ah, what the hell. Install away, my friends!

Hello my friend!
I am ready to kill myself and eat my dog, if medicine prices here (http://www.thebigbookofspam.com) are bad.

Look, the site and call me 1-800 if its wrong..
My dog and I are still alive :)

From the spectacular and eye-catching subject line, I fully expected to be blown away. I wasn’t disappointed. I wonder what order he intends to carry out his threat in? I wouldn’t put it past a spammer to kill himself and then try to eat the dog. I tried to call him, but nothing happened when I punched in the number. Oh, well. I guess he’s a goner. One less spammer in the world!

BBoS Update - May 23, 2007

May 23, 2007 · Filed Under News · Comments

I’m a big fan of Adobe products, and I’m using InDesign CS3 to write The Big Book of Spam. It’s fantastic, and I highly recommend it.

I’m up to 86 pages! More specifically, I’ve got 86 spam emails laid out in the book and properly formatted. I’m aiming for about 300 pages, so I’ve got a little more to go, but I’m ahead of what I thought my schedule would be, so that’s great. Of course, I’m still very interested in any spam you might be getting, so don’t forget to forward your spams to bbos@thebigbookofspam.com, and use that address to fill out forms by any known spammers!

Once I get all the spams laid out, work will begin on the commentary. After that is the proofreading, then the book covers.

It’s exciting! To keep up with site updates, you can use a RSS feed reader (link to the right) or you can sign up for email updates (also to the right). Your email address isn’t collected by me, it’s used by the Feedburner service only to deliver my site updates.
