It’s Done - The Big Book of Spam: Volume One, is Done

July 12, 2008 · Filed Under News, The Books · Comments

I have one task left, and that’s to complete the back of the book cover. The interior is 100%, not-going-to-change done. The book cover will, if all goes according to plan, be completed tomorrow morning (okay, later today, given that it’s 1:40a.m.).

I need to call my contact at BookSurge on Monday to ask about getting my ISBN number (which they give me), then it’s upload time. After that, the ball is in their court. They’re going to check my book files to make sure everything is formatted correctly, with all the images and fonts embedded and all the i’s dotted and t’s crossed. I’ll be asking Zach on Monday how long that typically takes and hopefully have an estimated purchase date to share!

It’s done!

Editing Complete!

Well, mostly complete. I find myself constantly moving things around, but all the subject lines, joke and images are in. I wrapped up the logo yesterday (which I’m really pleased with and you can see it here on the site now), and the book cover is just about finished. I’m still playing with the color scheme and some of the elements in the layout.

Work continues on the website, and I’m hoping to have the final files to upload to BookSurge very soon.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that although I’ve got all the content for this book ready to roll, I still want your spams! This is to be the first in a series, after all! Spam me at bbos@thebigbookofspam.com!

Finally, on the site management side of things, I’ve integrated Disqus to handle the commenting here. Ironically, I’ve done that to help cut down on spam - hey, the spam is for the books, not for you guys to wade through in the site comments. Disqus is a fantastic blog comment solution, supported by a ton of sites the world over.

BBoS Update - May 23, 2007

May 23, 2007 · Filed Under News · Comments

I’m a big fan of Adobe products, and I’m using InDesign CS3 to write The Big Book of Spam. It’s fantastic, and I highly recommend it.

I’m up to 86 pages! More specifically, I’ve got 86 spam emails laid out in the book and properly formatted. I’m aiming for about 300 pages, so I’ve got a little more to go, but I’m ahead of what I thought my schedule would be, so that’s great. Of course, I’m still very interested in any spam you might be getting, so don’t forget to forward your spams to bbos@thebigbookofspam.com, and use that address to fill out forms by any known spammers!

Once I get all the spams laid out, work will begin on the commentary. After that is the proofreading, then the book covers.

It’s exciting! To keep up with site updates, you can use a RSS feed reader (link to the right) or you can sign up for email updates (also to the right). Your email address isn’t collected by me, it’s used by the Feedburner service only to deliver my site updates.
